The Andy Warhol Museum has appointed Clark Crowley-Bunyard as its new advancement director. Crowley-Bunyard was previously senior development director at buildOn in Boston, Massachusetts. He assumed his role at The Warhol on November 27, 2017.
At buildOn, Crowley-Bunyard was the sole development professional supporting fundraising activities in Greater Boston. His responsibilities included fundraising, and successfully planning and securing donations in support of their annual fundraising dinner. Crowley-Bunyard also presented fundraising best practice trainings to members of the national development staff. Prior to working for buildOn, Crowley-Bunyard worked for the YMCA of Greater Boston as their regional development director and at the Boston Center for Adult Education as the education program manager & development associate.
“I’m very passionate about access to art education and youth development programs, and my fundraising work for the Boston Center for Adult Education, YMCA of Greater Boston, and buildOn have supported equal access for all,” said Crowley-Bunyard.
Crowley-Bunyard’s background in the arts includes a public relations internship that lead to an assistant position in the public relations department of the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts. He also served as an assistant in the public relations department of the Boston Ballet and interned at a PR agency in which he supported the Provincetown Art Association and Museum in Provincetown, Massachusetts.
“I am absolutely thrilled to welcome Clark to the Carnegie Museums team,” said Michelle Horton, associate vice president, institutional partnerships at Carnegie Museums. “He is not only an exceptional fundraiser, he is personally invested in advancing contemporary art and artists in the city and region.”
Patrick Moore, director of The Warhol, stated, “Clark’s deep personal connection to The Warhol’s mission along with his achievements as a development professional make him an ideal addition to the museum’s team and to the Pittsburgh community.”
“The Warhol, in keeping with its namesake’s legacy, celebrates diversity,” said Crowley-Bunyard. “It’s LGBTQ+ programming, accessibility accommodations, and rotating exhibitions showcasing artists of varied ethnicities, provides a space for much needed education and exchange during a very divisive time in our country. I’m honored to be joining the team at The Warhol and for the opportunity to support both the curatorial mission and public programming being organized by the museum. My husband and I were very drawn to the idea of relocating to Pittsburgh due to the city’s progressive reputation, history of innovation and cultural offerings.”
The Warhol receives state arts funding support through a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency; and The Heinz Endowments. Further support is provided by the Allegheny Regional Asset District.
