The Andy Warhol Museum has appointed Anneliese Martinez as senior director, The Pop District and Christian Lockerman as executive producer and senior director, external affairs. Both assumed their roles in 2022.

Before joining The Warhol, Martinez founded A Martinez Consulting, where she consulted on many projects including The Warhol Project, which later became The Pop District. She was also the field director at Remake Learning and program director & associate at The Sprout Fund.

Martinez holds a Bachelor of Fine Art and Cultural Theory from Temple University. Her community involvement includes holding board positions with the Partnership to Advance Responsible Tech (PART), City of Bridges High School and Never Fear Being Different (NFBD). She is also the co-founder of the Pittsburgh Learning Collaborative.

“I grew up in these museums and I’m a long time North Side resident,” said Martinez. “It’s a thrill to invest in my city and my neighborhood in such a foundational way.”

Lockerman co-founded Lockerman Studios in 2006, Maverick Visuals in 2013 and co-founded LOOK Creative Guild in 2018, serving as executive producer. He has held producer, director, director of photography and editor roles where he has developed, produced and directed unique film and video content; created and consulted on moving image and social media marketing strategies; and cultivated client relationships.

Lockerman holds a Bachelor of Science in biology and human and natural ecology from Emory University and a Master of Arts in communications from Georgia State University. He has held research and teaching positions at Georgia State University and the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and served a year as the visiting artist in cinematography at Point Park University.

“Our city’s commitment to supporting the arts is one of the main reasons I returned to Pittsburgh to make it my home. And The Warhol is a big part of that civic commitment,” said Lockerman. “I am honored to join the team supporting Warhol’s legacy, influence and vision. And I am especially excited to contribute to the education and creative development of our young, local artists and creators to help bring The Pop District to life. I hope we can provide some inspiration, so the next generation of creators feels comfortable calling Pittsburgh home and turning their creative gifts into careers right here in our city.”

“Anneliese Martinez and Christian Lockerman bring skill sets uniquely attuned to The Warhol’s future as we evolve to be ever more relevant to our community and the needs of future generations,” said Patrick Moore, director of The Warhol. “Their experience in education, workforce development and digital production represent a new model for museum leadership.”

The Warhol receives state arts funding support through a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency; and The Heinz Endowments. Further support is provided by the Allegheny Regional Asset District.
